Historic Sites
Preserving the Past for the Future: The Aurora City Council created the Historic Preservation Commission in 1985 to assist residents in the preservation of unique community assets, both archeological and historic. The Commission reviews applications for Historic Landmark designation and conducts public hearing to determine the eligibility and significance of local sites. Once a property is designated by City Council as a Historic Landmark, the site or building receives a distinctive plaque to provided recognition within the community. The structures serve as lasting resources for understanding the social, cultural and architectural history of our community.
